Default Training Schedule?

As I get myself back into regular training, is it okay to start off with a 3x per week schedule? I am not sure if I really need to be doing splits yet as I have been off heavy weight work for a while. I would like to just get myself so overall work 3x a week to get my self back into the swing of things. Perhaps for 3 weeks.

Thoughts?

Sure, no harm in doing whole body workouts for a few weeks. As long as you're happy and motivated with the plan, then it's perfect.

Just easier from a schedule standpoint. I tend to go overboard, and if I do, then I end up burning out faster. I think if I get myself into a schedule that works with everything else I have to do, then I am more likely to keep it up for an extended period of time. I know once I get into a routine my frequency and duration of workouts will increase on their own.

It sounds like you've got a plan that will work for you. Remember it's all about dedication. Dedication.

It seems like a small thing, but it is the most important one to remember. All the planning and scheduling in the world won't make you more fit. The ability to consistently execute is what will ultimately make the difference. Thanks for the reminder.

So true, movni and triumph. I've thrown away lots of carefully prepared training schedules that I never actually did for long because of I didn't dedicate myself enough.

3x per week is perfect if you're just starting back up. It's perfect if you're a veteran lifter. I've been lifting all my life and I still don't see the need to work out more than 3 times per week.

I don't see why it wouldn't work! It's not like you're going to lose the gained muscle before your next workout. Unless you're some kind of machine, dude!

I only wish I could have the luxury of working out 3 times per week. I am forced to do physical labor roughly 7 times a day. My life is gruesome.

I do a short (20 to 30 minutes on average) workout on a daily basis. I think if you're constantly hitting different parts of the body, you'll be a stronger person.
