Default Taking a week off every Three weeks.

Someone told me that you should take one week off from lifting every three weeks. Supposedly that will make you stronger when you start back up. Has anyone else heard of this. Personally I would find that a bit discouraging and would probably lose my momentum if I took time off that often. Just curious what some of you think.

I try not to miss a week but whenever I do,I always come back to the gym stronger!I usually just take an extra day off during the week rather than miss a whole week now whenever I feel burned out.It only takes 2 days /week to maintain your strength.

Whoever you heard this from is not correct. If you take a week off from weight lifting every three weeks, that is one week your going to lose gaining muscle or even decrease your muscle mass.
It depends how long you've been working out to decide breaks but I have been taking a break once a week and I feel great.
If you do need to stop for a lot of breaks it may be because you are working out improperly. Remember not to overtrain.
Also the mistake with what this person told you is that you become stronger. The truth is, is that if you start working out and you haven't in a while you will be able to lift more but after a few days of continueing you will not because your muscles will be soar from working out.
Hope this helped.
Good Luck
