I heard that if you don't eat after you work out, your muscles will start to use the fat for energy. So maybe muscle gain can happen at the same time as fat loss?! Look it up, don't take my word for it, but I think it sounds hopeful.

Causing your muscles to consume your fat sounds kind of disgusting. It might be kind of unhealthy, too. It does sound like it would work... talk to a real doctor before trying it.

I am also thinking that the two of these things go hand in hand. Just go for muscle gain, and I'm sure you'll shed some pounds as a result.

I also agree with the idea of balancing good nutritional intake with increased cardio workout. To lose a few extra pounds I began doing twice-a-day workouts at the gym, at least three times a week. On my second workout of the day I did a lot of cardio.

Ok the first thing is you cant turn fat into muslce but as you work out and burn fat and replace that with muscle mass. Cardio is better for getting lean , but at the same tim doing weight lifting builds muscle. The best workout i know of is doing cardio before your work out to help burn fat and get leaner. Then do heavy slow low rep lifting to gain mass. This is how most of the guys i know train. Also you have to have a very strict diet. More vegis , lots of protien, - stay way from any hardees mcdonalds burger king etc lol. well hope that helps good luck !

If you have healthy diet then you need to focus on cardio exersise. Like jogging or riding a bike or stationary bike/tred mill for 30-50 minutes a day. Cardio workouts are best to lose wieght when you first wake up before you eat(water doesnt hurt) because you will have nothing in your stomach to burn up so your body will go straight to burning fat. Don't worry about losing muscle because protein is the last thing your body used for energy. If you overwork you may start burning protein(bad) but thats not to common. Also when you first start trying to lose weight take in a lot of fiber to clear out your digestive system of any "Extras". Don't eat after 8:00 pm and your should lose the wieght in no time.
