Default Body Building at Home vs. The Gym

Do you believe that there is benefit either way in training at home versus the gym? Some people swear that they must get to the gym in order to be motivated to really work out....others say it can be done just as well at the home gym. What is your preference?

I believe that great training can occur anywhere. That said, in reality, my best workouts have been done at the gym. There's just something about being with other people that really motivates me. For instance, I used to do the angled leg press with the max weight it'd hold (720 lbs) for 12 reps just to see the reactions from this group of jerky boneheads who would always hog all the equipment. I'm don't have anywhere near that kind of motivation all alone in my basement, but as a SAHM it's my only option right now. It probably doesn't help that my cats lay around me looking half-dead while I exercise.

I am going to have to agree with Danielle. While nothing beats the convience of being at home, having a large and varied focused area is the best.

Honestly, if I were rich I would build a completely tooled out gym at home and have the best of both worlds, but if you can't do that, go to the gym.

That being said, if you can't make it, you should still do something at home to supplement your gym workouts.

Well if you're dedicated and motivated you can do it. As for me I don't have as much equipment at home as the gym has so I tend to work out there moreso.

Over the years, I've built my collection of equipment to a point that I don't need to go to the gym. However, you should never decide to stay at home if you don't have everything you need.

I'd like to be able to work out at home as much as I do at the gym, but I just don't have the equipment I need. Eventually I'll have all of the right machines!

I like going to the gym so that I can be around my pals and get motivation. We all like to high-five each other and spank each other's booties to inspire us to work out harder in anticipation of more spankings.

My training occurs in my home, simply because my area has no gyms or workout places to go to. I hope to someday flee this wretched country and find liberation in an area that has gyms.

I always body build at home - I have no need to go to the gym! If you don't have all the necessary body building equipment, I suggest you buy it. Working out at home is great!

I always work out at home. I've got the necessary gear, so I don't feel the need to go to the sweaty sausage fest of the local gym.
