Does anyone here do any special programs to focus on the wrist and/or forearms. I know they get a lot of work just through all the other upperbody work, but I would like to work on strengthening them a bit, to help me with other exercises.
Well this probably won't help you but when I did breakdancing that really helped me since it is somewhat about relying on yout wrists and arms to hold you up.
Here's an article link. Just remember to take it easy starting out. And there is some controversy regarding wrist curls (some experts believe they put too much pressure on the wrist muscles). Good luck, triumph!
Not sure I will be taking up break-dancing anytime soon, but it is an interesting suggestion.
Danielle, thanks for the link. I will check it out. I have done wrist curls in the past, but never done them with any consistency. Wondering if I need to do wrist work more often than other groups because they are used so much.
Using a few scraps of metal from work, I made this smal cylinder with a rope attached to the middle. The end of the rope has a thing that allows weights to be hung from it. Then, the goal is just to twist the rope up, then lower it down, then twist it up, etc.
It's worked wonders for my wrists.
I usually hang from my cieling while I read books. The cieling isn't finished yet, I live in the basement. This builds up my wrist and forearm strength like nothing else can!
Riding a donkey will get your forearms bulky in no time at all! Great strength is required to keep from falling onto the ground. You guys should consider trying this!
I play a lot of video games, I think that would definltey help my forearms a bit. I don't know about wrists. .... I've never really seen them as an inmportant part of the body to exercise.
Swimming allows me to work these out fairly well, because of the water resistance created when stroking. It tenses up the wrist pretty well. If you don't swim, try it out!
