You see some people at the gym who seem to wait 5 minutes between sets.
Personally, I have two modes. Fast and slow. In fast mode I try to go from set to set within 30 seconds. If I am switching exercises I will have up 60 seconds.
In slow mode I may wait 90-120 seconds between sets.
It all depends on my 'mode' too when I'm at the gym. Generally though, I rest 1 to 2 minutes between sets. If I'm on a good roll, I find that this can be good cardio too.
At what point have you waited "too long" to get normal growth?
3 minutes i believe.i think that the rest between sets should be between 2 and 3 minutes.under 2 min,you are too tired to perform a set with maximum potential..over 3 minutes and the musclegets 'cold'.
it depends on what weights you are lifting.if you take a look at a powerlifter you will see him taking breaks of even more than 5 minutes.for bodybuilders it's somewhere around 2 minutes but you can go lower.for instance,i normaly take 1minute between sets
These 3-4 minute answers stun me a bit. I know I see people doing it, but I would go crazy with that much downtime between sets. It would quadruple my time in the gym. I used to work out like that, as I mentioned, but I am too impatient these days. So 2 minutes would be max for me, unless I was waiting for equipment.
