More than a minute or two and I end up getting bored. I usually just wait for a minute to pass, then start when the second hand reaches the top of the clock. Nice and even.

I think those guys at the gym rest so long just so that they can talk to their buddies and whatnot. For me, weightlifting isn't a social time. Therefore I only rest long enough to do well on the next set.

About a minute is good for me too, if I'm going back to the same exercise. If I'm hitting a different body part next, I won't rest at all!

Most of my working out consists of doing various chores around our farm, so I just wait until there is another set of chores ready to do. It could be 30 seconds - it could be an hour.

I don't ever rest! I just hop on the treadmill and do a few sprints to try and stay geared up for what I do next. Resting is for the wimpiest workouters!

Wow Angus, for an 11 year old kid you're sure full of energy. I don't think I could sprint between sets and still be OK to do the next one. I guess you are just youthful.

Some days I'm just really tired out already, so I will rest up to 5 minutes between sets. I usually average at about 2 minutes though, depending on the rest of the people waiting to get on the machine I'm on.

Stanley, that's a good point. Do you need to rest if the exercises are working different body parts?

It depends on he lift . If I am going heavy I would take as much as 3-5 minutes on a light day I will generally keep it between 1-3 minutes.
