Default Need some help, pullups

Hey I'm new here, I don't know anything about weihtlifting or much about working out. Anyway, I want to be able to do as many pullups as possible at one time, maybe go for a school record.
A few years ago I tried this and for a few months I worked out a ridiculous amount just doing pullups. Well I only went from maybe 17 max to 25 max, 35 with me counting lol. All I did was sets of pullups, as many as I could over and over. Well I like hit a brick wall and no matter how much I worked out couldn't do anymore max.
Well I'd like to try that again, just to see how many I can work myself up to but I don't know how to do it. I was thinking that maybe instead of just doing as many as I can, resting and doing it again I should instead put a chair underneath me and use my legs to do like a set of 100 all at once or something. Maybe thats the better way to go? I don't want the same thing to happen to me last time where no matter how much I worked out I wouldn't really see an improvement. Also I don't have access to a weight room or anything, So I need some advice on what a good way to go about my goal would be without a weight room.

Check this site out hopefully it will help you improve.

Also just working out your upper body will help increase the amount of pull-ups you can do. I went from doing only 3 pull ups to about 25 because I have worked out and not once have a trained by doing pull ups.
Good luck.
