I usually alternate between high reps with low weights, and low reps with high weights. It gets the endurance down, along with the sheer force. I suggest trying it! Switch off every week or so, you'll start to feel an all-around improvement.

I like to have my reps as high as I'm capable of. I don't see the point of having low reps - they're below your total ability, so how can they help you improve?

Well Angus, you can still benefit from low reps. The smaller amounts allow you to do more, and work on endurance. A longer workout is always going to be better.

For good muscle tone, low reps will probably be better. High reps will give you more strength with less muscle mass, as far as I know.

I think your pretty much right on that low reps heavier weight really good form is more for mass. If you use light weights and alot of reps its more like cardio, in it is more of a fat burner tha muscle builder.
