| Home Equipment What equipment do you have at home? My home equipment has really varied over the years depending on the size of my house, means and other things. Also has ranged from bench sets, to full barbell sets, to soloflex, treadmills etc.
Right now I am really limited to some dumbbells and weights, for the most part.
What items and equipment do you have at home that you feel are essential to your workout strategy outside the gym? |

| Our basement is our gym area. There's an elliptical, punching bag, old TV & VCR for workout videos, free weights, a mini-trampoline, and a home gym from BodyCraft.
What do I think's essential for my workout? Good old pushups and crunches come to mind. Twist my arm and I'd tell you it's the elliptical and the home gym. The elliptical is great for reading while working out and I like the added tension from the pulleys on the home gym. |

| free weights We have mostly free weights. We also have a padded stretching bar (I'm not actually sure what you call it), but it's great for doing side twists and lunges. It's a long, very light weight padded bar that you use for balance when doing exercises. It's really simple and easy to use.
I love Danielle's idea of having a punching bag....I have always wanted to learn how to do the punching properly. The one aerobic device I do have at the house was suggested to me on the advice of a friend who is a former pro. level boxer....the good ol' jump rope. Now that thing really works me out! If you can jump rope at a good rate for five minutes, you'll be sweatin'!

I like jumping rope without the rope because I am a clutz. There's a really good exercise DVD series called RopeSport. I found them at my local library. This instructor takes the regular jump rope move and jazzes it up by adding different leg movements. That woman from Baywatch, Kelly Packard, is in it and so is some guy from a reality show. I don't recall his name, but he has a really hot bod (is that not PC of me? ). |

| Danielle, your home gym sounds great. We keep meaning to clean out the basement and put some gym equipment in there but so far we haven't gotten around to it. |

| Thanks, Lyricb. I actually want to start moving the equipment up to the living room where I'm more likely to use them. That old saying 'out of sight, out of mind' is haunting me when it comes to exercising lately. |

| I've made/bought everything I need to never have to go to the gym. I work with welding equipment at my work, so I am able to get the scraps and supplies necessary to make whatever I need. I've only bought weights and dumbells. |

| I have a large workout setup which I have accumulated through the years. I basically just wait until I've become strong enough to need something heavier, then buy something heavier. Now I doubt I'll ever get strong enough to surpass my current boundary. |
