I don't have any of these fancy commodities, but I am able to cope by finding various items or animals that I can use as weights. Such as a nice, fatty pig.

My dad is a weightlifting lunatic, so we have all kinds of weights scattered all over our house! Whenever I want to work out, I have something useful within my reach. It's great!

Awww, I thought this thread was going to be a way to get weights at no cost! Wouldn't THAT be a groundbreaking thread. Anyways I prefer free weights to any other type.

That would definitely make this post more of a hit. I've spent way too much money on weights in my lifetime, I would love to get a break.

Unfortunately I don't have much in my home, but I've got a gym membership that I get for a fairly discounted price. It's got everything I need!

That's a very good point, Danielle. It really does all start with us individually to make ourselves get out there and exercise. I have several friends who have ended up using their mail-order workout equipment as clothes hangers!

bowflex makes a freeweight bumbell that exchanges real easy but can get pricey, the weights range from 2.5 to 50.0 lbs. and the changes is as easy as a turn of a dial.

My freind has a set , they work pretty good but i like a better grip than what they offer. As long as your not lifting really heavy stuff, The squeeze clamps work pretty good in time in switching the weights. Those thinsg cost a alot too. Hope ya find something that will help ya .

Check out ironmaster.com. I picked up a set of dumbbells 3 months ago and I am really happy with them. They do have the screw in ends but they are fairly quick and they are all iron. Nothing cheap about them. They come with the stand and you can buy the add ons for up to 125 lbs.

What kind of equipment do you think is most essential for a home gym? Do you use floor mats with your free weights or do you just mop the sweat up off the floor?
